The event was very successful, Billie Jo raised her bail, and the total pledges were in excess of $56,400.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The money raised from this event will benefit families in the Lakeland area with neuromuscular disorders. Billie Jo’s bail will help fund research and maintain the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s hospital affiliated clinics. The MDA services include physical, occupational, and respiratory therapy evaluations, flu vaccines, and assistance with the purchase and repair of leg braces and wheelchairs. See more interesting facts (below) from a recent article posted on National Association of Realtors, in support of this move.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a style="COLOR: #5f5046; TEXT-DECORATION: none" href="http://marketing.realtor.com/blog/2008/03/25/realtors%c2%ae-moving-more-of-their-ad-spend-online/" rel="bookmark"&gt;REALTORS® Moving More of Their Ad Spend Online&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The facts are in, and they continue to show that the smartest and most successful agents and brokers are shifting ever-larger amounts of their advertising and promotional dollars from print to the Internet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For example, 90% of REALTORS® say that online marketing is important or extremely important to their success, and 90% of all home buyers say they searched for homes on the Internet, and more specifically on REALTOR.com®, while only 12% of all home buyers say they looked for their new homes in newspaper or magazine ads.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;According to the National Association of REALTORS®, overall ad spending by REALTORS® totals about $12 billion per year, of which about $3 billion is now spent online and about $5 billion is still spent on newspaper advertising. It was a hefty outlay for the fledgling business, which sells an eclectic mix of handmade art, doll clothes and belly-dancing accessories. But the group considered it an investment.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Not a single person responded.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"We were very disappointed," said co-owner Therese Craven.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So they gave Google (GOOG) a try. In October, they signed up with the search giant's AdWords program, which lets advertisers buy small text ads that appear alongside Google's search results.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Not only can The Pink City choose what words trigger its ads, it can limit them to people searching from within the local area, track the campaign's effectiveness and tweak it on the fly. Better yet, the store pays only when someone clicks an ad.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now, its entire ad budget — $75 a month — goes to Google.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"For the price and the amount of business we're pulling in, you can't beat it," Craven said.
